Buying a used iPhone

So where to buy a used iphone? If you are willing to put in some time, buy your phone anywhere (i.e. craigslist, facebook, etc. ) but know there are risks! Take it from a guy that has bought 4065 iPhones to date. What can go wrong? #1 its Blacklisted or iCloud locked, to name a few. This does happen so to avoid problems and be an intelligent used iphone purchaser, read these instructions closely and do them all! Yes, it will take some time but it’s important to check everything when meeting a seller.

Go on /facebook/craigslist wherever you buy a phone. Contact them and set up a time to meet, you pick the place.
Meet the person in a well lit place like a gas station. Preferably where you both can see and there is a camera watching you.
Look at the phone, check the settings are cleared.
Pop your sim card in. (you will need to watch a youtube or something on how to do this if you are unsure before hand)
Call your wife or best friend. Talk to them for a minute or two. You are checking the phone works on your carrier, (If you have sprint or metro PC do not buy used phones this way. Also I would look at switching carriers they both stink.) You will now check the speaker (put the person you are talking to actually on speaker), the microphone(if they can hear you, this should be sufficient)
Now Facetime that same person you just called. Check both cameras front and back also make sure the loud speaker is working well while face timing. This also lets your wife or buddy know you are alive and shows them whoever you are buying the phone from and the seller that there are people that know where you are.
Next we are going to make sure the mic for siri works you can do this buy setting up siri or just saying hey siri.
Make sure touch id or face recognition is working. Do this by starting to set these up in settings.
Make sure the phone charges, plug it into your car charger if you have a wirless charger try this also but you need to know when you hard wire it in the phone recognizes the charge.
Now its time to talk price, I will let you do your own negotiating but you are not done yet.
You need to do 1 more thing before you make this purchase BEFORE YOU HAND OVER ANY MONEY, go to settings and erase the phone then set it up 1 more time using your sim card to connect to the apple server. This will guarantee this phone is not tied to anyones icloud. If it is tied to anyone else’s account it will ask for a password. If this happens WALK AWAY, DO NOT BUY IT!
If the reset goes well you have a good working phone. Make sure to pay the person, if you want to take it to the next level have him sign a bill of sale.

Now you did it the rush is over and you feel good about the new friend you made and possibly you even tried to witness to this person. Then 3 days later the phone says no service What??? oh yea remember all those warranty programs? It is possible your new friend has tried to collect on one of them – telling his carrier or apple his phone was stolen. So basically what happens is you have a nice ipod and you now you need to call AT&T because they shut off your service. Tell them what happened and they will say “oh so sorry then flip your service back on” You can then put your sim card back in your broken iphone 5 and move on. I will say this happens 1 out of every 50 phones I buy. It’s a bummer. In reality, it’s also insurance fraud. Ok so your not wanting to do that because for most people that sounds horrible so how about Ebay? Yes, Ebay is a great option! Just like at Wal-Mart, you, the customer are always right. So if something bad happens with a phone you get from ebay, just send it back. It really is that easy and sometimes you can find great deals!! For a lot of people they want a phone that works great, at a great, price right away.I highly recommend Amazon. I use to sell all my phones on amazon but apple cut a deal with amazon.
