Most RVs come with a lead acid battery for the house battery. Lead acid is tried and true and does the job, but it is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to charging up fast on solar (or any other source) and keeping a charge over long periods of time.

Everyone knows the best are lithium batteries, but I was not at the point where I wanted to spend that much on a battery. So where is the middle ground?

For me, it was a 12 volt 125Ah AGM battery. One of the main reasons: AGM batteries charge about five times faster than a standard lead acid battery. I have been using this battery and it works great. It really does charge five times faster, which is a big deal for me when I am boondocking.
